Chair of Governors Profile:
Maxine Garbett
Maxine is a retired teacher with 37 years’ experience. She started her career as a Special Needs and RE teacher in Batley. She then spent 16 years at a school in Dewsbury as head of RE and latterly as a Head of Year. She started at Calderdale PRU as Teacher in Charge of KS4 in 2002 and later became the Deputy Head.
She is the Chair of Governors at Moorside Community Primary School. Maxine, her mum and her gran are all past pupils of the school! As part of her role as the Chair of Governors , she is also a Director of The Valley Learning Partnership which Moorside Community Primary School is a part of.
Maxine is also the joint Vice Chair of Governors at Rishworth School, again she is a past pupil at the school and was one of the first girls to attend there in 1968. She is also the joint secretary of the Old Rishworthian Club which she has been a member of since she left school in 1976.
Maxine is also the Chair of Trustees for the HOPE Community Village, based in Kerala, India. The charity is completely run by volunteers in this country, so Maxine is often organising fundraising events around Halifax.
