World Book Day Celebrations – Thursday 6^th March

Nursery will be celebrating World Book Day on Tuesday 4^th March and Thursday 6^th March

Dear Parents/Carers,

We can’t wait to celebrate World Book Day again on Thursday 6^th March.

Children are welcome to dress up as their favourite book character or they can come to school dressed in their favourite colours! Please note, this is optional and we do not expect families to have to buy expensive costumes – it’s amazing what you can do with a plain t-shirt and a little creativity or why not buy second-hand? After World Book Day, we would welcome any costumes you would like to donate to school.  

Throughout the day, the children will take part in lots of fun book-themed activities.

Every class will also have an opportunity to visit Beechwood Library between February and April. Children may borrow one book on their visit (if your child needs a library card, complete the attached form and return to school). Please ensure all borrowed books are returned so you do not incur library fees – there are still outstanding books from last year’s visits so please bring these into school to be returned asap.

Another event I am excited to share is a visit from the wonderful local author, Sophie Edgar. She will be coming into school on Wednesday 5^th March to run an assembly and workshops which will be focused on her fabulous new book: The Magic of Mindfulness. In addition, Y5 and Y6 will be looking forward to an author visit from the Award Winning local author, Tom Palmer. Order forms will be sent home if children wish to purchase a signed copy of their books.

Scholastic Book Fair                                                                                                                                                             Our Scholastic Book Fair will be running from Monday 3^rd March until Thursday 6^th March: there will be a selection of hundreds of beautiful books to purchase. We are always blown away by how well attended our book fairs are and we are so grateful for the commission we earn to purchase books for the school. At our last fair we secured almost £1,000 to spend on new books!

You can use your World Book Day token to get £1 off the price of any book over £2.99.

Why not pop along on parents’ consultation evening? What better way to reward your child’s hard work and achievements! We can accept cash and card payments.

 World Book Day Tokens                                                                                                                                                       You can also exchange your £1 World Book Day book token for a FREE book until Sunday 23^rd March 2025: simply take your book token to your nearest bookseller (which could be a supermarket) and swap it for a free World Book Day book.
