PE Uniform Consultation

Proposed changes to school uniform – Consultation

We are proposing a change to school uniform with the introduction of a new PE uniform.

The proposal is that EYFS pupils and Little Hive pupils will wear the PE uniform every day to support access to play activities.

Pupil in Y1-Y6 and the Big Hive, will wear PE uniform on PE days and the standard school uniform on other days.

Rationale for the change of uniform

Over the past few years, we have adapted the learning spaces to meet the increasing complexity of needs that we have in school. One of the many impacts of this is where KS2 pupils can change for PE with privacy and dignity.
One option to resolve this issue could be for pupils to wear their PE kits for the full day on the days they have PE.
We believe that this will have the following positive impacts:
Increased PE lesson time by approx 20 minutes for Y1-Y6.
Reduction in sensory distress for children who struggle with textures/clothing.
Uniform can be worn for outdoor/physically active school trips.
EYFS and Little Hive pupils will wear PE uniform everyday providing easier transition from in/out-door activities and for toileting (in terms of changing clothes).

Additional uniform revision:
Due to the on-going cost of living crisis, the rule of plain black trainers will be relaxed, black trainers with white/coloured stripes will be permissible.
We would like to invite any comments during the consultation period, which will last until 5th June 2026.
In addition, we welcome parents to a parent drop-in session, to speak with staff regarding the proposed changes and to see samples that can be purchased through
