Transition arrangements

 Dear Parents and Carers,

We have reached the point of the year where we start looking ahead to transition!

This year, we will be planning our transition in a different way so that children will be moving up to their new classes for the final two weeks of term.

Following our transition day on Monday 6th July, all children in KS1 and KS2 will remain in their new classes until the end of term. We will be holding leaving parties in class on the 3rd July.

 Leaving staff

Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Quinn, Mrs Crowther and Mrs Williams (Mrs Williams will be leaving slightly before we break up). We would like to thank them all for their time at Moorside Community Primary School, and we wish them all the very best for the future.

New Staff

We are delighted to be welcoming Miss Eccles to the Nursery and Mrs Hodgson will be taking up the role of Learning Mentor within the pastoral team.

Transition Weeks (Current Reception- Year 6)

The first day of transition is Monday 6th July.

The pupils will come to their classes as usual to register and after assembly the children will move to their new classes. At the end of the day, children should be collected from their new classes. Please bear with the staff at the end of the day whilst they are getting used to the new faces at collection time!

Pupils in Nursery

Pupils moving from Nursery to Reception will be notified of their transition arrangements at the New to Reception open evening.

The focus for the Transition Period is, ‘What makes me unique?”; children and their teachers will learn about their differences and similarities so they can get to know each other and celebrate the diversity of each class, including their hobbies, interests, heritage, likes and dislikes.

The teachers and children will continue this theme in September when they return to school.

As the parent survey highlighted, we understand that some parents have had issues with Seesaw. During the transition week, we will be resending out Seesaw codes for parents. We will also be holding 2 drop in sessions for parents who are having problems with Seesaw or would some support. These will be led by Mrs McKnight on Thursday 16th July – 8:50 am and 2:45pm.

Each year group will also have a transition booklet which will be sent home and it will also be available on Seesaw for the children to share at home.

 Yours Sincerely,

Mrs. H. Higgs
